Shenandoah, aka Shenny, and Woody Carmody’s mother went missing almost a year ago. Woody has not spoken since, and Shenandoah has taken on the responsibility of caring for her twin. She has also decided to try and find her missing mother.
Their father has tried to confine them to the family estate. He has also threatened to send Woody away and has hinted at a remarriage. This makes Shenny want to find her mother even more and soon.
The pressure these two girls feel is heartbreaking, but Shenny is determined to find out the truth to what happened to her mother, but her family may just stand in her way. And what she finds may surprise her and change her whole world.
What a heartbreaking yet poignant story. It is told from Shenny’s point of view. The lessons these girls learn are hard ones, but they have a story just begging to be told. Tomorrow River is a joy to read. If you are looking for a good book off the beaten path give this one a try.
