Beth is a rancher’s daughter. She is naïve and very young and beautiful. Her trip to Florida did not turn out as expected.
Jeff is an Airman in the Air Force. He is the son of a Colonel, very good looking and pretty wild. His wildness is the reason he is not an officer.
Wild Jeff and naïve Beth meet in Florida in the early sixties. Vietnam looms large, and the world is about to change drastically from the decade before. The two fall in love and marry in this uncertain time and no one knows what the future holds.
This is an interesting look at military life and life in general in the early sixties. It is a little hard to wrap my mind around a historical romance set less than fifty years ago, but the author has a good feel for the time period. The characters themselves are a little extreme. Jeff has to be the most worldly nineteen year old in the Air Force, and for a rancher’s daughter, Beth is awfully ignorant of the facts of life. They must have kept her in the root cellar. That aside, they are both likable characters and the storyline is pleasant.
