THE VELVET INTERROGATION
Rating: 5 Cups
Charles “Chet” Bender is trying to get the bus filled and the people out of camp before it is bombed. That is where he first meets Nabil Shalili.
Nabil follows Chet back to his place and they soon become lovers. And all the time he is using his hold over him, manipulating Chet to be just the way he wants him to be.
Twenty years has passed and Nabil is looking to become president of Lebanon. Chet is being interviewed by a well known reporter and must keep their past a secret at all costs. It is not just because it could expose the world to Nabil’s relationship with Chet. It could also mean the difference between life and death.
Mr. Kessel writes an extremely gripping and intense tale full of danger, secrets, romance, and spies. The Velvet Interrogation is like a scene out of an old black and white suspense movie. The tone of the story brings the reader in and never lets go. The way the book jumped from one point of view to another made it even better, as we get to see both sides of the story. I am extremely glad I got a chance to read this tale and it is one that will have you on the edge of your seat until the very last page.
