After becoming the hood ornament for a Ferrari, is there really any way your day can get any worse? For Fred Tompkins, the answer is a resounding “yes”, because what should have been a quick death turns out to be the beginning of his unlife.
He feels so bad about accidentally taking Fred’s life that Daniel’s only recourse is to turn him. The real surprise comes when his fledgling shows signs of powers that go back centuries.
The irony that now his life really does suck is not lost on Fred. He works data entry for a company that employs hundreds, so excitement was really not part of his daily routine until he died. Now he has a cocky, and okay sexy vamp, living in his apartment and mooching off him, and along with his burgeoning libido, Fred finds himself in the middle of a centuries-old conflict. Daniel is struck senseless with Fred’s latent abilities, but what is done is done, and the only way to keep him safe is to lay it all on the line, and hope they both survive the experience.
Wrapping your head around the ins and outs of this story line is likely to make you a bit dizzy, but it is well worth the effort. The zaniness of the main characters is a total riot, and their attraction for each is as sweet as it is sexy. They have a way of making you love them even if it takes a while to figure them out. Vaughn Demont has a wicked sense of humor and intelligence that makes for wonderfully expressive and fun characters.
