THE UNCLAIMED DUCHESS
Avon, an imprint of HarperCollinsPublishers
Rating: 5 Cups
From the time she was a young girl, Lady Anne Danvers has known that she was to be married to Rhys Carlisle, Duke of Waverly. From the beginning she has loved him and has vowed to be the perfect wife to him.
After a week of marriage to Anne, Rhys finds out some shocking news that has him abandoning his wife and leaving for parts unknown. He has to come to terms with a secret that will shake the very foundation of all he has known.
Determined to bring her husband back, Anne travels to the cottage where he is staying in the hopes of helping him any way she can. Instead of healing her husband like she hopes to do, a wedge is being driven between them that could bring an end to their short marriage. Will the secret he has just uncovered become public knowledge and destroy all of those around him? Will Anne be able to stop Rhys’ torment before it is too late?
The Unclaimed Duchess is one momentous occasion after another. Ms. Petersen writes with such passion; she has a powerful voice that the reader can practically feel pulsating from the pages as the characters go through their trials. The way Anne suffers such anguish from Rhys, as well as for him, is so revealing we cannot help but feel such compassion for her. Rhys too has his moments, both as a tortured soul and as a man struggling to figure out who exactly he is. This is a brilliant novel that takes the reader from the ballroom to a grassy field, from betrayal to acceptance, from hate to love, and from a deep sorrow to unencumbered joy that will leave you utterly breathless.
