THE TEMPTATION OF YOUR TOUCH

Rating: 4 Cups
After being jilted at the altar, Lord Maximillian Burke banishes himself to his family’s most remote holding. Cadgwyck Manor is a crumbling heap of angry stones on the Cornish coast. It is the perfect place to nurse his wounded pride until the history of the place calls to him, especially the story of the unfortunate debutante who has flung herself from the cliffs after being betrayed by her love.
Cadgwyck has a strange sort of housekeeper in Anne Spencer. She spends her days doing her best to chase away any master who comes to stay at the manor. Horrid food, dismal housekeeping and incompetent staff are only a handful of the tricks she and her ragtag family use to maintain their hold on Cadgwyck. However, Anne may have met her match in the unflappable Max.
The longer Max stays at Cadgwyck, the more he comes to realize that Anne is far more than she seems. A strange attraction grows, one that binds the manor, the housekeeper and the jilted lord with ties that will stand against betrayal and greed. As secrets begin to unravel, those ties will hold life together for the people who call Cadgwyck home.
There is nothing like mystery and betrayal to set the stage for a tempestuous romance between two lovers. Max and Anne’s lively relationship is everything a reader could wish for. Some of the twists in Ms. Medeiros’s story are maybe a tad farfetched and difficult to navigate. Still, readers who love a little suspense added to the love story will enjoy this unique tale.
