THE SUMMER GARDEN- A LOVE STORY
Tatiana and Alexander Trilogy, Book 3
William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers
Rating: 4 cups
Tatiana is a very strong woman who has survived the direst of situations. She has seen the inside of concentration camps, a war that shattered her world, and she has fought to find the man she loves. Their love created their son, Anthony, who is the light in her dark world.
Alexander is the man Tatiana fought to find. He now works as a fisherman in Deer Isle, Massachusetts, not far from their rental home. He lives through the nightmares that haunt him, Tatiana and their son. He is a hard man who has seen devastation most would never understand.
Together, Tatiana and Alexander are living in America. Tatiana has given up her life as a nurse in order to be a stay at home wife and mother. Alexander is working hard to provide for his family. World War II is over, but there is a Cold War coming, threatening to take away the security this couple has worked so hard to find. There is so much pain that sits between them, yet Tatiana and Alexander surge forward, hoping to get their relationship back to what it used to be. The two “strangers” become re-acquainted as they travel the United States with their son.
The emotional roller coaster of this book was an incredible ride to say the least. The reader becomes so involved in the story and that causes emotions to surface. At times, I alternated between shaking my fist in rage and sobbing. The smiles help temper the more indepth feelings that surfaced. Paullina Simons tells such a beautiful tale of love and the power to overcome the obstacles that stand in the way of the happiness involved in loving someone. If you are looking for a book that will touch deep inside of you, then I highly recommend adding this book to your shelf.
