THE SOCIALITE AND THE BODYGUARD
Rating: 4 Cups
Kayla Landon is a rich socialite who is far more than the empty headed blond that she appears to be to the public. She has a standard poodle named Tsini that she participates in dog shows with.
Nash Wilder is a former marine who is finding life outside the military to be less than stellar in some respects. Being reduced to being a bodyguard for a dog is not exactly what he had in mind when he signed up for his current gig.
When Nash’s boss decides he went a little too far on his last assignment when he helped a battered woman face down her husband down with a gun, he gets stuck being bodyguard to Tsini, rich socialite Kayla Landon’s standard poodle. However, it does not take long for Nash to figure out that Kayla is in more danger than her little darling. Couple the fact that now that Nash knows he has to protect Kayla from someone that clearly means her harm with the fact that he is very attracted to her, and things just go from bad to worse. While each is doing their best to ignore their mutual attraction, the person intent on doing harm to Kayla nearly manages to kill both Kayla and Nash. With no answers, and no real suspects, their time together is drawing to a close. Will Nash be able to figure out who wants to hurt Kayla and why? Or will the person get the job done, and get to Kayla as he or she did to her parents and older brother?
The Socialite and the Bodyguard keeps you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. I loved how strong Kayla is. Tsini’s antics are very cute as well. I especially liked how she grew on Nash. Nash is your typical alpha male, and Kayla really throws him for a loop. I got a real kick out of reading his reaction to her, he totally did not see that one coming! The world of dog shows is well explained and even if you had never been to one before, you can get a good idea of what they are like from this story. This is a totally suspenseful romantic read that I am more than happy to recommend!
