Fiona Bristow is a complicated woman with a complex past. She is strong, independent, she trains dogs as her job, does search and rescue, and eight years ago she survived an attack by a serial killer who murdered fourteen other women.
Simon Doyle is an artist, creating beautiful furniture out of everyday stumps and whatever else he can find. His lovely mother gave him a puppy, one that he has aptly named Jaws after he devoured most of his stuff.
When Fiona first meets Simon, she sees a guy who is in desperate need of help. What begins as dog training soon becomes more as passion flies between them. Soon though, Fiona will find herself caught between a possible future with a man who understands her and her past, as a copy cat killer is on the loose and she is his final target. With FBI, cops, and people she loves supporting and surrounding her, Fiona will have to take a stand once again against a nightmare she thought was gone for good years ago.
I always enjoy reading Ms. Roberts, but I have to say I think she has outdone herself with this sensational book. The Search has the usual romance, mystery, and adventure that most of the author’s other books do. While Fiona and Simon are the two main characters, there is a little terror named Jaws who stole the show at times and left me shaking my head and laughing at all his antics. The comedy that infiltrated this novel was remarkably witty, sarcastic, and shows me how talented of a writer she is. Whether you are a long time fan of Ms. Roberts or just getting into her books, this is a definite winner and one I will shelve along with all my other keepers.
Caution: While there are no scenes of rape, there is a scene where rape is implied to have occurred.
