Grace Mardsen, an alumnus at Regina College, was helping with a renovation when a grisly discovery was made -- skeletal bones in an old fireplace. She cannot help but be intrigued by the finding. She feels for the poor woman yet, cannot get rid of the feeling that somehow this is personal.
Ric is a friend who at one time had a brief relationship with Grace. He still has feelings for her, but she is married to Harry. Ric is the inspector who is looking into the mystery of the woman found. Harry is Grace’s husband, and he thinks Ric might have something to do with the attempts on Grace’s life.
Grace feels compelled to dig deeper into this mystery. She is totally convinced this has something to do with her aunt’s disappearance many years ago. She continues her efforts, even though someone is out to stop her from finding out the truth that has been buried for so many years. Can she survive long enough for that to happen or will the truth follow her to her grave?
What an entertaining mystery Ms. Buehler has penned! While keeping you guessing who did it, she keeps the killer’s identity secret till the very end, which is an ultimate surprise. Danger and suspense keeps this story rolling right along. This is part of the Grace Mardsen Mystery Series; a series that I would like to read more of. This reader suggests you do the same.
