Audrina Argenis has been sent to Point Henry because Marguerite has told Drina that her lifemate is there. On top of that fact is her uncle, Lucian, has a young girl named Stephanie whose life is in danger. And here Drina thought she was popping in to New York from Spain for a wedding.
Harpernus Stoyan, or Harper to his friends, is still mourning the loss of Jenny, the woman he thought was his lifemate. The guilt he is dealing with becomes disappears when Drina walks into his world.
The vampire who turned Stephanie into an endentate- a vampire with no teeth- is still on the loose and the young girl is in need of bodyguards. Drina has been several things in her life so why not add babysitter to the list? Drina is aware of who her lifemate is supposed to be, but she refuses to tell him as she and Stephanie begin to make Harper’s life a little more…spicy. Trouble comes knocking at Casey Cottage within mere days, but the rogue vampire is not near the town of Port Henry. Someone wants this clan of rogue hunters dead, and they are not afraid of who gets hurt in the end.
As a new reader to this extensive series, I was more than a little leery of how involved I could become in this story. Within the first two chapters, I knew who I was reading about and had enough background information to allow the pages to carry me where they would. Harper and Drina are at the center of the story, but it was Stephanie who had me laughing throughout. A typical teenager with a sharp wit and the ability to hear people’s thoughts, her sarcasm, and humor made this book even more enjoyable. Can you all hear that noise? It is the sound of my “to-be-bought” list growing. Ms. Sands has earned a new fan in this reviewer.
