THE PRAIRIE GRASS MURDERS
Worldwide Mystery (Harlequin)
Mass Market Paperback
Rating: 3 Cups
Sylvia Thorn is a judge in South Florida. She grew up in rural Illinois determined to go to law school. The love of her life was her first husband, an FBI agent who died in a car accident many years before.
Willie Grisseljon is Sylvia's brother and a Vietnam vet still suffering from PTSD to some extent. He is a CPA and owns his own firm. He has a very deep connection to his sister.
When Willie decides to take a walk down memory lane on his vacation in his hometown in Illinois, the last thing he expects is to find a body on the old family farm, or to be sent to the county mental ward. He calls in his sister Circuit Court Judge Sylvia Thorn to help him. It turns out that the body he found was that of Syl's old beau Clay Taylor, and the Sheriff is yet another old boyfriend. Ties to organized crime complicated the case further, but no one expects it to follow them back to South Florida.
This is an enjoyable and well plotted mystery. Sylvia and her brother are likeable and intelligent characters and the plot is interesting and full of twists and turns. Things get even more interesting when Sylvia and Willie go back to Florid,a and I enjoyed the way the Grisseljons thwarted the crime boss' plans. This is an interesting and exciting series.
