Fiona is a college student. She is pretty, idealistic, and impulsive, which tends to get her into uncomfortable situations. She is also a bit intolerant of others’ faults and missteps.
Roger has recently lost his beloved mother. His father is a selfish womanizer bent on making money and has no time or affection for his son. Roger is determined to get even with him in the only way that matters -- through his pocketbook.
Roger and Fiona come from very different backgrounds, but their families are connected in a way that they are unaware of. The two fall in love, but circumstances conspire to test both their love for each other and Fiona’s for her mother.
The author is very good at creating vivid characters and interesting situations, but takes a bit too long setting up the main part of the story. The subplot of the relationship between Fiona’s mother and Roger’s father is very important to the plot, but makes Debbie look very weak-willed. Overall, the story is very involving and dramatic with an interesting plot and only slightly exaggerated characters.
