The finish line is in sight for Owen Montgomery and his brothers, and what a beautiful sight it is to behold. They have worked tirelessly to complete the Inn Boonsboro on schedule, and everyone is overwhelmed at how wonderful it has turned out.
Even as busy as Avery MacTavish is with her restaurant, Vesta, she has lent a hand with the Inn, and she could not be more proud. The Montgomery brothers have been family friends her whole life, and she is as excited for them as for herself.
Owen knows he is totally anal when it comes to lists, schedules, and making plans, but this thing with Avery has him completely blindsided. They have been friends forever, he even gave her a bubble gum machine ring when she was five, but he never saw this coming at all. Avery loves all of the Montgomery’s like family, and when her mom cut out, theirs filled a huge void in her young heart, and so screwing this thing up with Owen is not an option. She has felt a tingle here and there with other guys, but the feelings Owen evokes puts those few little tingles to shame, and that scares her more than she cares to admit.
I love the energy and fun loving spirit of Avery, and it plays in perfectly with Owens’ more contemplative and cautious nature. Even the odd little twist of having a resident ghost at the Inn is done with style, and adds one more whimsical element of romance to this story. However I am not quite sure I have ever encountered so many variations on perfection in one story, and this, in my opinion, makes everything seem a little surreal. I am pretty sure that will all change when we get to read book three, because you can already feel the sparks start to fly!
