Sax Douchett is an ex-Navy SEAL and he is now back in his small hometown in Oregon after seeing his share of the devastation of war. He has been labeled a hero; a title he is not comfortable with. He is trying hard to adjust to life at home when his dog finds a bone on his property that brings Sheriff Kara Conway back into his life.
Kara Conway is the sheriff in Shelter Bay, taking over after her father was killed. She agreed to take the job here in the small town for both her and her son now when her cop husband was killed while at a domestic dispute. She hopes her decision is a good one.
What starts off as a finding of a bone and a skull sets a series of events in motion that might mean there is a major crime in this small town. It also puts some people in danger. Through it all, Kara and Sax renew their friendship and soon realize it is time to heal old wounds, move on with each other, and that her son needs Sax in his life as well.
The Homecoming is a sweet and sexy love story with a bit of mystery and sadness throughout. Ms. Ross does a wonderful job telling Sax, Trey, and Kara’s story. I wished my home was in this small town during my time in Shelter Bay and was sorry to see my mind vacation there come to an end. This reviewer is looking forward to reading more of Ms. Ross’s stories.
