All Devon McAllister wants is to feel safe and secure, yet once again she is anything but. Leaving The Fellowship behind, Devon and her young daughter Mercy find themselves in the small town of Thunder Point with only the kindness of strangers to rely on.
In the months since losing his wife to cancer, Spencer Lawson and his son Austin have made some drastic changes. Coming to Thunder Point to be near Austin's biological father and taking a job at the local high school, Spencer hopes to finally give his son a stable life full of friends and family.
As much as Devon will miss her friends at The Fellowship, she is very certain that their leader Jacob is far more dangerous than he lets on. She needs to keep Mercy safe, and to do that she must push her fears aside and embrace those trying to help her. Spencer's kindness draws her in as much as his looks, although she cannot forget that her judgment in the past has been less than stellar. With Devon and Spencer both fighting demons from their past, will love be enough to break through the barriers surrounding their hearts?
Devon's connection to The Fellowship and Jacob should, in my opinion, be a much greater focal point in this story. It feels like her relationship with Spencer is shared so much with the other inhabitants of Thunder Point that they almost get lost in the melee. Reading the prior two novels will probably help with the confusion of who the other characters are, and their relationships with each other. This is a sweet story that I feel has great potential to be a real edge of the seat drama.
