Melanie Middleton can see and hear ghosts. She has tried to ignore it as must as she could because she is uncomfortable with it. Her mother resurfaces in her life after thirty years. Not wanting a relationship, she unwillingly undertakes a renovation project at her grandmother’s old home, when her mother re-buys the house. But that will not be the only challenge she will face in the coming weeks.
Jack Trenholm is a local history writer that seems to have a very rocky friendship with Melanie. Although he has feelings, wanting to be much more than friends, they seem to never be on the same page. Yet, they make a great team at solving the mysteries surrounding the house and Melanie’s family tree.
While restoring two homes, Melanie’s life is crazy enough. Throw in a few ghosts and old secrets, and there is bound to be a disaster. Melanie and her mother must find the strength to rid a ghost who is out for revenge. Can they do it in time?
What a cool read this was. This is the second book in the four-book Tradd Street series. Although this book stands on its own with a bit of background from the first book, I would recommend reading the series in order so as not to miss one detail. Ms. White is a talented writer who has let readers sample the old south and a bit of mystery with the paranormal, which makes for a great combination. I look forward to the next book in this continuing series. I am sure you will too.
