Marguerite de Fleurignac is hiding in her own stable. There was an uprising and all of her belongings, her home, and everything was burned down.
William Doyle is on a mission to find Marguerite’s father. Finding her instead, he somehow convinces her he is harmless so she can lead him right to his prey.
Maggie knows the giant, scarred man is not being truthful with her. But then again, she is not either as she poses as Maggie Duncan. Both dance around the truth and their lust for each other as they continue head-on into danger and deception. As both of them begin to see who the other really is, can love triumph over dishonesty, danger, secrets, and spies?
The Forbidden Rose confused me in the beginning with all the bird references. Even as I got further into the book, I could not always follow all that was going on. However, Ms. Bourne has a way of writing that takes the reader on the adventure of a lifetime. Instead of constantly pondering all the intrigue I just sat back, relaxed, and enjoyed the storyline. If you can get past all the historical events or if it is a topic you are familiar with, you too will enjoy this novel.
