San Gabriel holds a lot of memories Melissa McGuire would rather forget, but her self confidence was ripped to shreds in LA, and coming home was the only answer. Her grandmother Nelly needed help and Melissa needed a place to lick her wounds and heal.
Every time Captain Harry Brody hears someone mention the bachelors of the San Gabriel Fire Department, he cringes. He and his firefighters are intelligent, highly skilled, and the some of the hardest working firefighters in California, but few people ever look beneath the surface.
Melissa could very easily strangle her grandmother Nelly for getting her into this mess, but once Nelly sets her mind to something she cannot be dissuaded. Melissa is trying to rebuild her career and has little time or patience for finding a man, but Brody in not just any man. Their attraction for each other is so disconcerting neither Brody nor Melissa know quite what to do with it, but Nelly is not ready to give up. They talk, they argue, and they make love like two starving souls, but at the end of the day will that be enough to break a curse and heal a broken heart?
If an entire fire department full of gorgeous single men sounds like a dream come true, then Brody would definitely have a starring role. How can you not love this real man’s man, who is strong, confident, and totally honorable? Melissa and Brody have verbal sparring down to an art, and their dialogue is so well done you can easily feel the heat build. One little spark is all it takes to set them on fire, and I for one love the burn.
