Alana is a teenager with an obsession with death. She fully embraces her new consequence with Allurius and Dresden, but is having some problems adjusting to her new status.

Allurius was born to nobility and is still very much a product of his upbringing. He is beautiful and a bit spoiled but loves Dresden and Alana.

Dresden is the more practical minded of the two male vampires. He is handsome and virile but leery of creating a new companion.

Allurius sees Alana in a cemetery talking to the dead. He thinks that she will make an excellent companion to himself and Dresden. Alana embraces her new existence and is already in love with Allurius and on the way to loving Dresden. Unfortunately, her transition is not without problems and figures from the two male vampires pasts intrude.

The author has written and interesting and creative story. The characters are vividly unique and the storyline is engrossing and at times exciting. It was a bit difficult to get into the story at first as it is told in the first person from three different viewpoints and that was pretty confusing until I got to know the personalities of the main characters. Some readers may find that the age of the heroine a bit uncomfortable, but she is more mature than her years, and I soon forgot that she is only a teenager. The author does a good job of presenting the background of the main characters, adding to my enjoyment and understanding of the story.
