Lady Siusan Sinclair is one of the famous “Seven Deadly Sins”, as the seven children of the Duke of Sinclair. It is the one year anniversary of the death of her beloved fiancé, and she is in no mood to go to a party even if a handsome and unmarried duke will be present.
The Duke of Exeter never intended to be where he is, but the previous dukes have been said to be cursed to die young. He resents his present role and his grandmother’s insistence that he marry and quickly, but he takes his responsibilities very seriously.
A chance encounter in a dark library between a drunken duke and a grieving miss could lead to a scandalous downfall for both. Lady Siusan does not want to force the new Duke of Exeter to marry her, but Sebastian is an honorable man and is determined to find the mysterious miss he ruined at the gala. Siusan is forced to leave London and actually work for her living, but still does not escape.
I really enjoyed the story of how the slothful Siusan overcomes all of her obstacles to find love and success. I think that her father’s treatment of his children is horrible and can understand Siusan’s lack of confidence in her abilities, between her father and her late fiancé; I am surprised she has any at all. Her sneaky way of getting the headmistress to pay for outings was very amusing, and the plot is full of amusing situations both in Bath and in London. The love story between Siusan and Sebastian is full of wonderful twists and turns, and the reader will not want to put this story down.
