The Headmistress of Scarfield Academy for Young Ladies is a proper woman who is diligent at ensuring that her students are kept free and safe from scandal. But Charlotte Boscastle is a headmistress with imagination. In her diary she keeps a graphic and descriptive retelling of events that occur in her daily life, with a twist. She retells events how she wishes they could be rather than a rendition of the facts.
When the Duke of Wynfield gets his hands on the diary, he is immediately fascinated. Not only has the headmistress taken notice of him, per her diary, they are involved in a passionate relationship. Between her scathing remarks on his character, he reads of kisses that never happened and decides that perhaps they should.
But there are others trying to get their hands on the wayward thoughts of the proper Charlotte. Will Gideon, the duke, be able to get his hands on the diary again? Or would he rather spend his time putting his hands on Charlotte? Passion explodes and desire is explored in this fun frolic of a historical.
Having read others in the Bridal Pleasures series, I did not feel I was captured as quickly with this story as I had been the previous stories. Even saying that, Hunter managed to suck me in from nearly page one and keep me flipping the pages to see what would come of the daring but innocent Charlotte. The Duke in this tale is a man gone rogue after the loss of his wife, so he was easy to relate to while being dashing, teasing, and charming all in one delicious package. All in all, a fun read that I could not put down.
