Amalya is a Succubus who has been hiding for centuries from an evil demon. When he escapes his prison, she knows it is only a matter of time before he finds her and her three sisters and tries to destroy them in a very pain-filled way.
Levi Spencer, Duke of Ashford, is on his way to get Amalya back to the Queen of the Succubi and Incubi, Lilith, and in exchange, he will get the answers to the question he has been searching for. When he meets Amalya, he is instantly attracted to the Succubus to the point that he wants to claim every inch of her silky skin in every way possible.
After leaving the brothel she has called home for hundreds of years, Amalya, along with her bodyguard, Jethro, and Levi find themselves running from entities called Shades as well as demon bounty hunters. Along the way, Amalya and Levi discover a passion for each other unlike anything either has felt before; Jethro faces the unrequited love he has kept a secret from everyone; and Levi will get the answers he most wants. Amalya and Levi discover some disturbing finds such as people they thought they could trust who have gone behind their back and betrayed them. Keeping themselves alive is only the beginning, because the signs of Armageddon have begun and each of them will have to face many obstacles in order to find the happiness they want even if it will only be for a brief moment in time.
The overall tale of The Demon and the Succubus has a very strong plot, fantastic characters, and dangerous foe. I loved how the back of the book gives a brief synopsis of why the four sisters are on the run from the powerful demon as I found it really helped me understand the storyline better. Amalya amazed me with how strong she is, especially when they are in the farmhouse and the bounty hunter comes calling. I would want her behind me in a fight, and I would most definitely not want her as an enemy. Ms. Ryan has also kept me intrigued enough to want to read the previous novel in the series, and I cannot wait to see what happens next in the Sisters Series!
