Living in a retirement home is more a matter of convenience than necessity for Viola Weatherspoon. She is very much an active older adult who is not going to let anyone railroad a neighbor into a murder conviction.
There is a lot about Tyrone Landowski’s past that he keeps under wraps, but when a good friend requests his help, he has no problem tapping into his skills.
The last thing Vi could see Phyllis Duncan being is a murderer. What she does see is an abused woman about to spend the rest of her life behind bars. Vi and Ty pool their resources and their expertise to try to find out who really killed Phyllis’s husband. Clue after clue seems to lead to a dead end, but neither Vi or Ty can stand the thought of giving up.
It would seem that with all of the eating and exercising going on Vi and Ty would not have time to nose in on their neighbors, but alas they are able to squeeze it in. Vi is definitely the dominating personality here, as she doggedly pursues leads while using Ty as her personal chauffer. Being a good sport and friend, Ty helps Vi any way he can. What I find really surprising and unbelievable is how easily these two go about their investigation without interference.
