Agent Dean Dreiser works for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and knows what a single security breach can do. He learned that and would never risk it again.

Dr. Lucinda Brown, Lucy, is a genius in the area of bioweaponized agents and bioterrorism. When she is called upon to help in a crisis, others lives are in her hands.

Dean has spent ten years in active operations and is aware how biological weapons can degrade the body. Now he must go undercover after learning terrorists are testing a biological weapon in New Mexico, of all places. He believes his new partner looks too young to go undercover. Lucy may be new to the field, but she comes with glowing recommendations. Dean knows being a field op is a dirty business and does not have time to babysit. Lucy assures she has expert marksmanship to take care of herself. The more they are drawn into the case, goosebumps dance across Lucy’s flesh when she is near Dean. His reaction to her is about the same. How can he respond to these new feelings when one false move could jeopardize her life? Before all this is over, Dean is certain that love will pay a price.

Hold onto your seats because The Cost of Love is an action-packed read that brings on the adrenalin. I like the quick, sharp dialogue between Dean and Lucy. They match well, creating a chemistry that slowly wants to explode. When Dean used her full name, oh, it sounded so romantic. This adventurous suspense is a page-turner. Drue Allen creates a great plot with intrigue and life-like characters. She instills a realism that something could happen around any corner. This fantastic read pricks the reader in the heart, wondering what if this ordeal became a possibility.
