Contemporary Romance/Young Adult
Rating: 4 Cups
Serena Montgomery, Ren, for short has a psychic gift. She hates injustice, and any boy who picks on a younger girl. After witnessing the event, she takes matters into her own hands.
Dugan Michael Donovan is unaware that Ren has a mother that is a Judge, and a father that is the sheriff. Thanks to her mother, the Judge, he was able to shape up his life.
Ren is the Sophomore Class Ambassador and President. She does not like it when Trey Campbell picks on a younger girl, so decides to pinch him. Her actions send her to the principal’s office where she is given detention. Afterwards, Dugan is nice enough to give her a ride home. When Ren’s mother learns about Dugan, she wants Ren to stay away from him. He has been in a jail called Character Camp, and believes the boy is a troublemaker. Dugan believes the time he spent at the camp made him a better person. He would like for Ren to help transform his step-sister, Payton, in to developing some self-confidence. Can Ren listen to her mother about staying clear of Dugan, or will Ren and Dugan find a common bond while helping Payton?
I have to say The Cinderella Swap was an entertaining delight. This was a different spin to the storyline that I found refreshing. The young characters were lively and remarkably sketched like real-life people. Linda Palmer allows this reader to experience the sensation of being young again. From walking in the school hallways, to being sent to the Principal’s office, Ms. Palmer permits the reader, right along with Ren, to experience all the joys and disappointments that come with growing up. This roller coaster ride is exciting and was enjoyable wondering the outcome of Ren and Dugan.
