THE BIZARRE LIFE OF SYDNEY SEDRICK
Soul Mate Publishing
Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy
Rating: 3 Cups
Sydney Sedrick is twenty-eight and helps her aunt run a shop catering to witches and those who believe in the power of spells. Her overachieving parents and sister see her as flighty, but she is dedicated to her new job and loves her aunt dearly.
Blake is a werewolf and son of the local Alpha, Morris. He is very charismatic and handsome. He is determined to protect Sydney and make her admit she is attracted to him.
Sydney thought that Kenosha, Wisconsin was a quiet small town compared to Chicago, but there are things lurking in the dark that are much scarier than anything found in the big city. A rogue werewolf has attacked her and activated her powers. She is The Selected and very important to both the vampires and the werewolves. Both sides are pressuring her to pick their group, and they are not her only threats.
This story has a lot of potential. I liked Sydney a lot. She has spunk and wit, and the guts to stand up to some pretty scary creatures. Her chemistry with Blake is very hot, and I would have liked the author to have done more with their attraction. The vampires were also an interesting group. I just had trouble understanding The Selected’s powers. It is nice to be able to tell when a rogue paranormal is in the area, but throwing up and passing out are not typical of the tough heroine Sydney is, otherwise. These things really need a lot more explanation since a heroine with these severe faults will not survive very long in such a dangerous environment.
