Vejhon is a warrior and used to fighting for the good of his planet. However, there is no fighting against fate when he is sold at a slave auction.
Najir knows that for his mistress to acquire happiness for her family, she must mate with certain species outside of her own. When he sees Vejhon, he knows he will be the one who will ultimately help her family.
Hanna Drakoulous hates slave auctions and considers them an abomination. However, when Najir comes back with Vejhon in tow, she cannot help but feel a thrill when she sees the beautiful slave-warrior.
While Vejhon is attracted to Hanna, he vows to keep himself apart from the beautiful woman. However, there is something about her that calls to him and soon he finds himself ensnared in her passionate touch. There is danger lurking around every corner and soon Vejhon will have to make a decision -- to stay with the woman who has enslaved his body and heart or try to fight for his freedom.
The Bid was an appealing read with so many different twists and turns it kept me on my toes. I thought how hard Vejhon fought all the unknown elements around him was a very realistic characteristic of a warrior. Jax knows how to keep the reader intrigued with all the passion and power that rose from the pages of this novel. The overall storyline was unique, hinting at many different genres including fantasy, sci-fi, paranormal, and erotica. Not to mention a villain so repulsive, so vicious and so revolting that it will leave the reader with the need to take a shower after meeting the grotesque monster.
Caution: While this tale does not go into details, there are hints of rape of minors as well as torture.
