Whenever someone sees Marcus Maxwell, the Earl of Weston, they see a man who is charming and witty. In truth, Marcus uses his friendly demeanor to mask his identity as a Young Corinthian.
Sarah Tisdale knows that most young women do nothing but dream of the day they can marry and become upstanding ladies of society. The LAST thing she wants is to become a married woman, and she uses her clumsiness to her advantage.
Marcus spies Sarah while she is swimming on his property. They find themselves instantly defensive toward each other, and yet as time goes by, they cannot help the attraction that builds between them. When two young boys are murdered and the clues lead to the smuggling ring that Marcus is investigating, he must trust Sarah to help him. As they get closer to discovering who is behind the smuggling as well as the murders, Sarah and Marcus realize they love each other, but it may be too late for them to explore their newfound feelings.
When reading a novel by Ms.Sloane, I know that I will be perusing a novel that has great characters, a suspenseful plot, and scenes that yank at the heartstrings. The Angel in My Arms is the story of two people who are most definitely not looking for love when it finds them. The historical era comes alive under the author’s pen and the characters are vivid individuals who are unique in their mannerisms and dispositions. I truly took pleasure in the humorous role Sarah played as she stumbled and crashed her way through the intricacies of love. You will savor this novel as you read about the passion, danger, and adventure these two characters experience on the road to love.
