Merewen “Merry” Stewart has another name associated with her. She is known as the Stewart Shrew, but for good reason.
Alexander d’Aumesbery had just received word of his father’s death when he was brought more news. His intended bride was anxiously awaiting him to come claim her.
It seemed to Merry that she was always taking care of everyone, whether a sickly mother, a drunken father, or disorderly brothers. When she meets Alex for the first time, her impression of her future husband is less than favorable. As time passes and Merry gets to know her husband, she finds him to be nothing as she expected and her heart softens toward the gentle but formidable man. Though he is not the drunkard she first thought, someone is out to destroy him and determined to kill him one way or another.
Lynsay Sands knows how to get the reader to fall in love with her characters. Taming the Highland Bride is part of a series and although it can be read as a standalone, you will want to read the first in the series after completing this amazing tale. Merry is the type of heroine I love to read about -- strong, independent, kind, sarcastic, and stubborn enough to take on an alpha male. Alex is described as this man who could crush her with his hands, yet his touch is as soft and gentle as can be. A truly remarkable and unforgettable story!
