The death of her husband left Shelby Holland in sole command of one of the largest transport and racing companies in the country, but it also put a price on her head. She may be a barracuda in the boardroom, but being beautiful and blonde draws sharks from miles around.
Racing in any form is in his blood, and Derrick Manville loves that feeling like nothing else. He risked his heart once, and it blew up in his face, so racecars and speedboats became the perfect outlet.
The crash that killed Carroll Holland put Shelby in a very precarious position, but one that she has been very successful in claiming as her own. Holland Transport and Holland International have expanded and flourished under her care, but there is someone who wants to take it all away. She follows the advice of a trusted employee, and lands on Derrick’s doorstep seeking his help, but what she gets is beyond her wildest dreams. Derrick takes one long look, and is hooked for life; his perceptions and priorities change in an instant, and the only thing that matters is Shelby’s safety.
Corporate espionage and unbridled passion abound within the pages of this book. There is a point though where I feel that the relationship between Derrick and Shelby overshadows what could be an exceptionally intense and suspense filled novel. The speed with which they progress their relationship is staggering considering the problems going on around them. I do, however, love their intensity for each other, and would only like to see it used more economically within the storyline.
