Susanna has pretty much lost everything; her job, her kennel, her boyfriend, her best friend, her reputation in the dog show community, and worst of all, her half ownership of a dog she loves. A distant relative she does not remember is offering her a solution to her immediate problems, but she is still worried.
Evalina used to live in the Snowhedge mansion. She was a writer of children’s books and her tragic past is relived over and over again in the parlor of the house.
Snowhedge is a beautiful Victorian home in an isolated and rural area. It is a perfect place for Susanna to rethink her life. She does not count on the house being haunted or that the arsonist that destroyed her kennel would be set free instead of serving a term in prison. The mysteries of the past and the dangers of the present are about to combust in a way that Susanna never anticipated. Her beloved dogs and her new relationship with State Trooper Mike are the positives in her life at the present.
I really liked this story and not just because of the Collies, but that was a definite plus for me and any dog lover out there. The story is easy to follow despite a complicated backstory. Susanna is a very sympathetic character and the events that brought her to Snowhedge are very unfair. I do wish that they were resolved a little more thoroughly, particularly the stolen dog. I enjoyed the development of Mike and Susanna’s relationship and her research into the history of the house. I love a good ghost story and this one definitely qualifies.
