Lyra is a doctor and a werewolf. She is estranged from her family and works in a clinic in the borderlands of New Orleans. Her uncle is the Alpha of the Wolves.
Zander is a leopard shifter and the brother of their leader. He is also a well known and successful businessman who works out of the family’s resort for all shifters, the Refuge.
Lyra is attacked and left for dead in the middle of enemy territory. The desert would have killed her if she had not been found by Zander Leonidas, a member of the feline shifters’ ruling family. The two feel an uncontrollable and forbidden attraction to each other; wolves and leopards do not get along. But aside from the forbidden romance, someone still wants Lyra dead.
I really enjoyed this quick moving paranormal romance. The characters are strong, attractive and well developed. The romance between the two is very sensual and the plot is enhanced by the element of danger produced by the mysterious and determined hit man. The author also does a good job of giving the reader all of the necessary background information they need without bogging down or disturbing the flow of the story. There are some characters I would definitely like to see more of, especially the swan shifter, as she was truly unique and deserves a story of her own.
