Olivia is a nine-year-old girl who does most everything young girls do. She goes to school and belongs to Girl Scouts. She lives with her family and pets. Olivia and her family are also Pagans.
Step by step, Olivia invites the reader into her family’s ceremonies, holidays, and rituals. She shows how her family’s religion is not that much different than any other religion. With explanations for each occasion, Olivia explains Paganism.
What a delightful read! While this story focuses on informing children about Paganism, I believe there are many adults who would benefit from the reading of this book. The explanations are simple and very understandable. The harder words are spelled out phonetically to help children with the pronunciation. Ms. Wishom’s story is educational and insightful. If you are not Pagan, this will teach you and your family that Paganism is a religion just like Christianity, Judaism, etc., not something to be feared. I, personally, cannot wait for my nephew to get a little older so I can read him this wonderful book.
