Cat Alward is a horse trainer in Central Oregon. Her parents do not understand her desire to stay on land they consider worthless, but Cat sticks to her guns. She works hard and when she gets a chance to play with a certain cowboy, she plays hard, too.
Matt Yaye was a young man when he was taken in by Santos and Addie. Abandoned by his mother, raised by extremely strict Christian grandparents and finding his father’s body have all contributed to the hardness of the man.
Cat and Matt’s relationship has always been a physical one. While Cat longs for more, she is willing to accept whatever Matt can give her. When his lovemaking becomes more animalistic, she is hurt, until she realizes t he is being stalked by Matichu, the Ghost Wolf. Matt’s people, the Paiute Indians, once revered Matichu and the wolves. When the final wolf was shot in Oregon, Matichu’s soul left as did the worship of the Paiute tribe. But Matichu has gained a new soul, and he is determined to keep Matt by his side forever. Matt has to determine if Cat is worth fighting to keep. Will love win out in the end?
What an amazing story! I loved how Ms. Harper took an erotic romance filled with sensuality and amped the emotions up. The reader is taken on this incredible journey which has a foot in the past when the Paiutes stopped worshipping their gods. The journey leads the reader full circle with the bringing of the Paiutes back to their original beliefs. It was heart-wrenching and fulfilling as I stepped on the path followed where this story led. I do not believe I have ever experienced such a passionate feeling as I did when I turned the final page of Spirit of the Wolf.
