Grace O’Brien has had a lot of careers in her life. She’s been a treasure hunter, a poker player, and a nun. Currently she is training to be a folk healer. Her one constant has been her best friend Angel, but even he does not know all of her secrets.
Angel grew up on the streets of Newark. He has earned a lot of money as a poker player and treasure hunter and even graced the pages of Playgirl. He has always loved Grace and is determined to finally tell her.
Angel and Grace have been friends for a long time, a friendship that Grace has always counted on. So, when Angel decides out of the blue to tell her that he loves her and wants to marry her, it changes everything. Grace has secrets in her past that make it impossible for her to marry and have a family and even Angel does not know all of them. She refuses and Angel takes off on his next treasure hunt ending their friendship. Tante Lulu and the LeDeux clan have other ideas and Grace and Angel do not stand a chance against Lulu and St. Jude.
I just love this series and am so happy to read another one. Each book just keeps getting better and better, and I will never get tired of Ms. Hill’s Cajun country and its unique inhabitants. Angel and Grace are not members of the family or native to the area, but it is soon apparent that they have been adopted by the family and get roped into all of the bizarre adventures that surround the nonagenarian and her friends and family. The subplots of the Duval family and Andrea Fletcher add much to the story and it is fun to read about the heroes and heroines of the previous books. Thank goodness for big families, it looks like this series will be going on for a while.
