Lisa needed a break and change of pace after being on her own for a while. Her eight-year relationship had broken up the previous year, and what better way to ring in the New Year than a short vacation getaway on the Scilly Island, a tiny island off the coast of Cornwall in Britain. She would be renting a cottage with some old friends from her university days.

When she arrives though, only one other person is there, Dominic, whom she does not know very well, as they were just acquaintances at the university. As they talk and get to know one another, Lisa finds that she has a growing attraction towards him.

Furthermore, as a snowstorm has grounded air travel, Lisa and Dominic receive messages from the rest of their friends, informing them that they are delayed in transit. As the snow swirls outside and Dominic and Lisa are brought closer together, might this New Year be special for them both?

This is a great novella, and perfect if you want a quick romantic story over a cup of coffee. The setting is quaint and idyllic, and Lisa and Dominic are a likeable pair. Dialogue moves the story quickly and conveys their British heritage. A pleasant and enjoyable short read.
