Caterina Shaw is a renowned musician who makes people sit up and listen when she plays her cello. A brain tumor is slowly taking away her greatest pleasure, her music. So when someone steps forward with a chance for her to live the rest of her days pain free, Caterina jumps at the chance, not realizing how much it will affect her life.
Mick Carrera is known for getting the job done. His newest assignment is to hunt down a vicious killer and bring her back to Dr. Raymond Edwards. When Mick realizes it is Caterina and she is not exactly what he expects, his job gets a little bit harder.
Caterina cannot remember what is in her past, only flashes of blood and pain. When Mick informs her that she is wanted for questioning in a murder, she is not sure that it was not her that committed the grisly crime. As time passes and her memory begins to return, Caterina begins to understand that she is not entirely human anymore. Can she trust the man who was sent to kidnap her, when everyone else she thought she could trust has betrayed her in one way or another?
Sins of the Flesh combine romance, paranormal activities, and science fiction into a novel about survival of the fittest. Ms. Piñeiro shows the day-to-day struggle for Caterina as she tries to understand what she has become even as her memory remains blank. What I find so unique about this tale is that Mick is this mercenary who has a close relationship with his family, a family that loves and accepts him for who he is and what he does. I found the heroine was full of strengths, mostly due to her will to survive. A noteworthy tale with a cliff-hanger of an ending that has the reader knowing there is more to this story.
