Maddie Moore has been hurt. Emotionally, she is a mess. Physically, she depends on potato chips to help bury the hurt. She lost her job, her boyfriend, and her home. Now, she is back in Lucky Harbor, Washington, to help her half-sisters, Tara and Chloe, settle their Grateful Dead-loving mother’s estate...what little of it there is.
Jackson Cullen, or Jax as his friends call him, is mayor of Lucky Harbor. He is also co-owner of several businesses as well as a master carpenter in his own construction business. A former lawyer in a previous life, Jax is determined to be a better person than he was then.
It seems as if Fate wants Maddie and Jax to meet. One accidental meeting after another, and a drunken phone call to a contractor one night, it is almost as if destiny is calling. Maddie and her sisters are at odds over what to do with their inheritance, Lucky Harbor Resort. Maddie is at odds with her life and is determined to make the inn the best it can be. Whether any of the girls will admit it, a piece of their mother, Phoebe, resides in them all. Maybe they can find love and manage to become the family they all have missed.
If you will pardon me for a moment, I have to wait for my heart to stop racing. Okay, here we go. I adored this book. From the moment I opened the book until the final page--which was all in one sitting--I was seesawing between laughing until I cried and my heart catching in my throat. There were actually moments when I had to lay the book down because I was laughing so hard. The sisters are such beautifully created characters, but when you add in the other people who reside in Lucky Harbor, I am ready to pack up my things and move there. Jill Shalvis is a brilliant writer and one author who I will be adding to my bookshelf on a regular basis.
