Lisette Delornay-Ross has not lived the life that most women her age have. Her wild ways and eccentric upbringing has the innocent debutantes flinching away from her, afraid of the scandal she could cause.
Major Lord Gabriel Swanfield has a shady past of his own, which has made him a guilty man without a proper trial. He knows he is innocent of the traitor charges against him, but there are many who have condemned him just from hearing the gossip.
When Lisette first means Gabriel, her feelings of instant attraction are doused by his arrogance and stubbornness. He feels as if the wind has been knocked out of him each time he brushes up against her, and a simple taste of her luscious lips has his body betraying him. When Lisette finds out that Gabriel visits Madame Helene’s Pleasure House, she sets out to humiliate him, but instead gets caught in her own trap. Finding pleasure with the insatiable man has her reaching for the love that is just out of reach. Can Lisette convince Gabriel that what they feel for each other is more than lust? And can they prove that he is innocent of his supposed crimes before it is too late?
Simply Forbidden is a tale that is sensational from beginning to end. I absolutely love this tale and the tussles that Lisette and Gabriel get into time and again as they try to find their place in each others’ lives and beds. When Ms. Pearce first describes Lisette, we see her as a woman who is quite childish in her actions but who begins to grow and mature as the story continues. Throughout the novel, Gabriel continues to be a strong character except when his secret desire is revealed, and even then, it only endears him to us as we get to see him at his weakest. The highly erotic scenes, the mystery surrounding who is trying to bring Gabriel’s past back, and Lisette’s realization of how angry she really is at her parents gives this book a quality of reading that is outstanding and one you will not want to miss reading!
