Charlene is a librarian, but no one would guess that this Halloween. Her catwoman costume is barely legal and her friends are determined that she have a good time. She has been a long time without a man.
Ulrik the Fair is a werecat and a former Shadow Hunter. He was looking forward to enjoying life for a change. It does not look like he is going to get pleasure from his retirement for long.
Halloween in New Orleans is a wild time any year, but the threatened war between the supernatural beings of the city is definitely making things more interesting. Ulrik has been called out by an angry werewolf who is threatening Charlene, a woman he just met and is determined to know better. The Council has ordered him to apologize to the wolf, but the dog has much bigger plans.
I am so happy they have rereleased this story and hopefully the rest of the series. Ms. Wilder’s Shadow Hunters are partially responsible for my addiction to paranormal romance. This book has everything: a strong, smart, and independent heroine, an incredibly sexy alpha shifter, and a plot full of scorching love scenes, suspense and danger. The setting of New Orleans at Halloween is a perfect time for the preternatural to mix with the mortals, and Charlene definitely makes contact with the “things that go bump in the night.”
