All of her life, London Harcourt has been told what to do, when to do it, and where. Now as a widow she assumed her life would be her own.
Bennett Day is a Blade and his one mission in life is to protect the Source at any cost. After finding out that London is related to one of the Heirs, men they are continuously trying to stop from acquiring magical items, Bennett knows what must be done.
When London is kidnapped by Bennett, she is both frustrated and overwhelmed by all he is telling her. She knows there is no way her father would ever be intertwined with some evil purpose such as the Heirs. Learning the truth can set you free, but it can also tear you apart. Once London finds out who her father really is, she must decide if she can trust Bennett enough to help the Blades stop the Heirs.
Adventure, magic, love, sex, mysticism, unbelievable creatures, and a journey that take two people far beyond their expectations are all in the pages of Scoundrel. I love the way Ms. Archer gives Bennett and London a chance encounter in a market without realizing who each other are before the real adventure even begins. It really was wonderful to see London go from this sheltered girl to this worldlier woman; not only growing in her adventurous and sexual experience, but maturing and becoming more sure of who she wants to be. Bennett’s character development also undergoes some major changes as he learns to realize what the difference between love and “monkeys in hats” love is. The ending of this tale leaves us with the sure knowledge that there is more to come from the Blades.
