Tabby is the plain one of her sisters. She is bookish and serious and has never really considered marrying. The betrothal of her younger sister has made her rethink her future.
Lord Sterling is a handsome and wealthy earl. He is one of the biggest prizes on the Marriage Mart, but has yet to meet the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with.
Lady Tabitha overhears some gentleman making a wager about Lord Sterling and herself. The conversation makes her rethink her image and her future. She might be plain and bookish with little chance of marrying, but why not find out what all of the fuss is about and turn the wager around on the bettors. She plans to seduce Lord Sterling, but does not count on falling in love.
Lady Tabitha and Lord Sterling are very appealing characters. She is a spinster who compares herself too much to her pretty sisters and plans her life accordingly. He is a handsome lord too used to getting his own way with women, until he finally meets his match. Both really want a love match like their own parents, and they finally do at the end of a story full of missteps, misunderstandings, and misadventures. Fans of the Regency genre are going to love this one.
