SCALES AND A TAIL
Book #2 in the Midnight Matings Series
Erotic Romance, Alternative (M/M or F/F), Paranormal, Shape-shifter
Rating: 5 Cups
Beauregard Stratford is a bunny shifter with a gift for getting into trouble. As if that fact alone were not enough to set him apart, he is the only white bunny shifter with violet eyes in existence. He is different enough from his brethren to sometimes make him feel like an outsider.
Sebastian Drakus is a dragon shifter and a prince among his kind who hates crowds and would just as soon be at home than a multi-clan gathering. He has no idea he is about to have his world rocked in ways he could never imagine.
When Sebastian discovers the Elders have spiked his champagne so he is forced to mate outside his species, he decides he is leaving. Unfortunately, he is unable to make it to his room before someone tries to claim him. He is able to get away without being claimed, but then another body hits him in the back. At first he thinks it is the same guy, but then he looks down and sees a small man cowering at his feet, terrified. When another shifter comes up and tries to claim the little man, Sebastian sees the man wants nothing to do with the shifter and decides to claim him himself in order to protect him and satisfy the elders, to show he has mated. While Beauregard ends up being quite the handful with his getting drunk on apples, and overdoing it with the bubblegum, the two fall for each other right away. But Beauregard is not the only one who wants the handsome dragon shifter. Will a man from Sebastian’s past cause enough trouble between the newly mated pair?
This series has my three favorite authors, Stormy Glenn, Joyee Flynn and Gabrielle Evans. That being said, you cannot go wrong with any of the books in this series, as the ones I’ve read so far are truly fantastic. Scales and a Tail in particular has plenty of laughs, as well as a bit of suspense. The whole idea of the elders deciding the way to stop all the interspecies fighting was to make the younger generation mate outside their group had me cracking up on more than one occasion. The idea of pairing a dragon and a cute little bunny shifter definitely has its moments of extreme humor. The lovemaking scenes from the very first are emotion laden on both sides, even when Sebastian really has no idea how to handle his bunny shifter mate. The beauty of this story in particular is that it has a wonderful love story, and a stunning punch line. If you love unusual storylines that foster beautiful love stories, then you need to buy this and the other books in the Midnight Matings series, they rock!
