When Garnet died, Dana Bennett so easily could have followed him into the abyss, and there are still days that the pain is like a knife to the heart. Enough time has passed, however, and Dana is beginning to feel that gnawing ache for something more than work.
The renovation to his home has been a long time coming, but Zachary Irving needs to put away the reminders of his life with Bethany. She left a pretty massive hole in his life when she died, and this will be a huge step in filling part of that void.
As Dana takes on the job of redoing Zach’s beautiful home, she quickly becomes aware of exactly what kind of man Zach is, which makes the masochist in her stand up and shout. She has no desire to be another man’s sub, but the thought of being on the receiving end of a Dom like Zach ignites a fire she cannot ignore. Zach is not looking for a new relationship when Dana walks into his life, and yet that is exactly where his heart is leading him. She is the perfect combination of strength, intelligence, and beauty, but there is a battle waging inside her that Zach knows only she has the ability to fight.
Zach and Dana are a couple that feel like they are made for each other. Their shared grief and experiences make it seem like they are a perfect match, and that alone sends out danger signals. I love the tantalizing undercurrent of dark sexuality, and find that it is much more powerful because it is done with style and subtlety. This is a deliciously sexy read, and whatever comes next for Ms. Blevins I am anxious to explore.
