Julia Kershaw is thrilled that she has been offered a new singing job. After she witnesses a murder, her plans are put on hold when she becomes part of a murder investigation.
Detective Inspector Daniel Conway has always been a city cop, until his Chief sends him to a small town. Immediately he lands his first murder case and a woman who steals his heart.
After her brother is mistakenly killed by a cop, and her ex-boyfriend refuses to believe it is over between them, Julia desires a change. She never expected to be a witness in a murder case or a handsome inspector to pull at her heartstrings. Daniel is surprised at how Julia stands up to him. She is feisty and beautiful, but one look into her eyes and a sensation hits him like one he has never felt. Now she is the sole witness of the murder and possibly the next in line for the killer. Can Julia push aside her bad feelings toward cops and guns in order to allow Daniel into her life, or will she meet her fate too soon?
The minute I started reading Reluctant Witness I was hooked; it was like catching a fish determined not to get off the hook. This story moves at a great pace. There were times I held my breath in anticipation, wondering about the next move. The dialogue grabs and is brilliantly written between Julia and Daniel. The chemistry slowly begins as the two fight their feelings that continue to escalate. I love Julia’s feistiness and determination and Daniel's compassion and warmth. Secondary characters make an excellent addition to the storyline, creating a plot that thickens with each turn of the page. Rachel Brimble has crafted an explosive read that kept me on the edge.
