PREGNANT MIDWIFE: FATHER NEEDED
Rating: 4 Cups
It is with great pride and satisfaction that Mia Storm carries out her duties as a midwife, and probably the reason she has accepted the prospect of becoming a single parent with relative ease. So it comes as a great shock when she finds herself having all types of cozy feelings for a man she has just met.
Coming home to Lyrebird Lake ranks right up there with a root canal for Dr. Angus Campbell, but it is about time he lays to rest all of the old hard feelings, before it is too late. With his job as a rescue medic it is easy to get caught up in work, and ignore all of the emotional drama of family.
Angus is coming home for his father’s wedding, but more importantly he is bringing his son Simon with him. This little family reunion is going to be harder than any rescue mission he has ever undertaken, and when he arrives the complications increase exponentially. Meeting Mia for the first time nearly knocks the breath right out of him, and time only intensifies the feeling. For Mia it is a conscious effort to remind herself that her baby’s future must come first, but knowing in her head that Angus is no good for her has little effect on her heart.
This intimate little novel has quite a cast of characters, and while the main focus is of course on Mia and Angus, you still get a taste of several secondary players. Simon in particular is one I would like to know more about, and more importantly how and why he and Angus reunited. Mia’s character has an amazing outlook for someone in her position, and I love the strength and conviction she has in her career as well as her personal life. Angus though is a bit of a mystery, but like any great hero that really holds all of the appeal, and he is a hero whether he wants to hear it or not.
