Paranormal Shape-Shifter Vampire
Rating: 3 Cups
Lillian Rosewood manages a psychiatric hospital. A seemingly critically injured soldier is wheeled into the secure wing. When she goes to check on him, he is fully healed. The soldier ends up saving Lily from a rape that sets off a chain of events, which will have them fighting for their lives against beings that she did not think existed. This has her questioning what is real, including her new intense attraction to Jack.
Jack Harper, a werewolf, is Captain of a team of unique soldiers. After rescuing Lily, he brings her with him and his team to escape the “clean-up” that the Project sends. It consists of zombies, soldiers, gun-ships and a vampire to eliminate the possibility of infection, which includes him and his team. In all of the chaos, he will also have to deal with his new intense desire for Lily.
Werewolves, vampires and zombies are created by a virus made by the military and a bite or scratch can spread it. Cleaning up the hospital turns out to be a bit more complicated than just sending in the zombies to kill off the werewolves though. Along with the suspense of escaping the hospital and the soldiers after them, lust and attraction between Jack and Lily grows. Is it too good to be true? Will they get free?
A twist to a military experiment is an interesting and entertaining origin of werewolves, vampires and zombies. The story is fast paced, has some action, humor and the growing romance between Jack and Lily is thrown in over it all. Some of the interactions between the characters are funny, which is a nice touch to keep the story from being too serious. There are loose ends left at the end that hint to more books, and I look forward to reading them.
