NOTHING BUT DECEPTION

Lady Beatrice Pullington is a young widow who was married off to a much older man. She lives quietly but craves excitement and, most of all, passion. She is quietly beautiful and very well-liked.
Philippe Durand has come to England to find and meet his biological father. He is a wealthy and well-known artist. He is handsome and very charming.
A deathbed confession from his mother sends Philippe to England to meet his real father. He does not expect to meet his soul-mate. Lady Beatrice is a secret poet and craves something she never had in her short marriage. She wants to know what passion feels like, and the artist, Philippe, is passion personified. She also accidently comes into the possession of a note from a French spy and now that Napoleon is free, England is in danger from a source close to Philippe.
Lady Beatrice and Philippe complement each other nicely. Her quest for passion is perfectly answered in this story, and her world finds there is much more to Lady Beatrice than they thought. The author does a great job of capturing the uncertainty and excitement of England and France following the escape of Napoleon from Elba. The plot combines a great romance with suspense and intrigue. The characters are well depicted, as are the settings and this author has a real feel for the era and its people.
