Not many people can say that their marriage crashed and burned on a radio show, yet Summer Raine Jackson cannot deny the obvious. Now she is without a husband or a home, although she misses the latter more.
The day he ruins a woman’s marriage, Craig Hartmann feels lower than pond scum. Today he is ready to beg that same woman, in order to save his life.
Rainey Day Wife, her sister April’s business, may be Summer’s salvation, until she realizes who is about to be her new boss. Craig is beyond caring how weak and helpless he looks. He needs help with his home, his kids and his dad. Summer steps up to the plate with the Hartmann family, and although the going is tough, she is confident she is up to the challenge. She and Craig butt heads right off the bat, so it comes as a huge shock to them both when everyone else sees sparks flying that have nothing to do with anger.
Kids are the great equalizer for anyone who thinks they have it all together, and it is comical to see how Craig and Summer handle all of life’s little emergencies. I really like how Summer keeps her cool no matter what is thrown at her, without ever seeming snooty or uptight. Craig, though, is a man at the end of his rope, and it is refreshing to see one who can accept his limitations as much as his strengths. I find their story to be mostly lighthearted and fun, a joy to read and share with anyone.
